Custom education and training for transforming organizational culture

Marc Hersch

MarcMarc Hersch has earned his undergraduate degree in the Sociology/Biology, various teaching credentials, and graduate degrees in the Sociology of Educational Systems and Instructional Design. After traveling around the world in the early 70’s, he began a lifelong career as an educator. From the beginning, he has been fascinated by the learning process and how learning and knowledge creation occur in community. His journey has taken him from administering and teaching public alternative educational programs in the 1970’s, to creating curricula, designing instructional programs, and delivering instructional products and services for a wide variety of public and private organizations.

Marc believes that organizations must be viewed from a “systems” perspective, and that the relentless and never-ending process of learning is the principal dynamic of organizational behavior. First and foremost, an organization is the vision, aims, and methods shared by its members. The creative process by which these community characteristics are realized and continually improved is at the heart of all enterprise.

Over a course of 30 years, Marc has served over 50 organizations, both large and small. During the late ’80’s and early ’90’s he became a student of Dr. W. E. Deming. Dr. Deming’s ideas and mentoring have informed and profoundly influenced Marc’s vision, aims, and methods.

In June of 2004 Marc returned to the “real world” following a second walkabout–a six year journey under sail undertaken with his wife and son.
